Child Portrait

A few days ago I took some child portrait shots. Children are never the easiest of subjects to photograph so I decided to try and occupy him with some nice pictures, toys and TV! This took his mind away from what I was doing and made him more relaxed. The big problem I had on the day was the weather. I was planning on shooting outdoors but the monsoon conditions put paid to that, so inside we went. To minimise the distractions and clutter I decided to crop tight. This really emphasised his eyes and features. All in all a successful shoot and some nice pictures for mum to give granny for Christmas!

Nicholas Cage switches on the Christmas lights in Bath.

I thought I would join in with the Christmas festivities and watch Nicholas Cage switch on Baths Christmas lights. The Hollywood actor who until recently owned two properties in the area seemed in good spirits and was quick to lavish praise on the city

With the press area filled to the rafters I had to take my chances in amongst the thousands of spectators. Luckily it didn't prove a problem as i secured a position relatively near the front. My 70-200 lens enabled me to zoom in close to the action and cut away unecessary distractions. With a few tweaks of the flash power I managed to come away with some half decent pics and quickly wired them off to a national picture agency.
